I learned computer repair to rebuild this MacBook and then my father smashed it to pieces with a hammer in front of me

Ever since I was young, I’ve been fascinated by web design and video editing. I even won an award for a short film at a local competition in my city, which was a proud moment for me. Back then, I would spend hours making videos for my mother’s small business, pouring my creativity into every frame. Those moments felt like I was building something meaningful.

When I started university, I was thrilled to join the magazine club. It felt like the perfect place to channel my passion. At first, I would edit posters on my phone, nothing fancy, just enough to get by. But soon, the club wanted us to work on the magazine using Adobe InDesign. That’s when things got tricky. I was using a second-hand 2011 MacBook Pro that my cousin had passed down to me. It had three missing keys. To top it off, I was living in a hostel with two other girls, adjusting to college life, and dealing with spotty Wi-Fi. The hostel’s internet was so limited, and many sites were blocked, making it nearly impossible to download or run heavy software like InDesign. It was overwhelming, and as much as I hated to admit it, I couldn’t keep up. Feeling defeated, I resigned from the magazine club.

When my teacher found out, he did something I’ll never forget. Around Christmas, he surprised me with a thoughtful gift, new RAM, an SSD, and a hotspot device to help with my internet struggles. I was overjoyed, but honestly, a bit intimidated too. Upgrading my MacBook felt like a daunting task, and with the whirlwind of university assignments and hostel life, I put it off for a whole year. The unreliable hostel Wi-Fi didn’t help either, every time I tried to research how to upgrade my laptop, the connection would drop. It was frustrating, to say the least.

Finally, during my holidays, I decided to tackle the upgrade at home. With my teacher’s guidance, I added the new RAM, installed the SSD, and even cleaned the MacBook with a cleaning spray. We recorded the whole process, and it felt like a small victory. it was like a proof that I could take on something new and challenging. (I’ll attach the video below so you can see it!)

That moment was empowering. My MacBook, though old, was running better and smooth than ever, and I felt ready to dive back into my creative projects.

But today, everything changed. In a moment, my father took a hammer and smashed my MacBook to pieces. I don’t know why he did it. I hadn’t done anything wrong. The laptop was shattered beyond repair. I’m heartbroken, not just for the loss of a device, but for what it represented.
